We are so excited about our shop re-opening on Monday 11th March 2024 after a full refurbishment.

Furniture Works, at 39 St Thomas Street, Scarborough, first opened its doors in 2020 and we now have a brand-new look, including extended retail space, additional products for sale and Coffee Works, a donations-only hot drinks area for customers.

Our team at Furniture Works sells pre-owned furniture which has been skilfully restored and upcycled. We are very proud of Furniture Works and its brand-new look! We would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work.

We held our preview evening on 12th March 2024, during which guests could see the new-look store and browse at leisure.

Guests also got chance to meet the team.

Bigger retail space

We founded the shop 4 years ago as we needed a space to show off the creations made by our clients.
Our remit includes teaching and sharing practical skills with our learners and one of the key areas is the restoration of donated furniture.
Our new looks shop includes a bigger retail space for customers to enjoy, and a brand-new website which was launched recently.

We have worked very hard to transform the premises into a fresh, immersive fantastic retail space.
Our clients and mentors do an amazing job transforming tired pieces of furniture into something that can find its forever home. So, we not only put our learners’ skills to good use, we also prevent items going to landfill, and provide essential quality furniture at a price people can afford.

         Coffee Works

Coffee Works is also in place to help raise funds with a minimum donation of £2.50.
Proceeds from sales go towards local charity Futureworks NY, based in Scarborough.
Futureworks NY helps local learners from school age upwards, enabling them to acquire life skills, confidence, practical skills and some qualifications in an environment that suits their individual requirements. We are proud to be part of the Futureworks family, which was established in 2020.

Furniture Works and What We Do

Home décor is one of our speciality!
Visit our retail showroom in St Thomas Street, Scarborough.
Furniture Works is about so much more than simply restoring furniture.
Each item sold helps young people in the Scarborough area.
Furniture Works is a valued member of the Futureworks NY family.
Our clients, ranging in age from school age upwards, help restore and refurbish furniture and accessories along with help from expert staff.
Each piece that appears in our shop has been transformed into a quality bespoke household item.

Upcycling

Upcycling is a key element for us as we seek to look after our planet for future generations.
We ‘taken on’ preloved items that simply want to continue being useful.
While the concept is nothing new, our dedication to restoration, refurbishing and upcycling can renew second-hand furniture and accessories.
Upcycling stops items going to landfill or being dumped or fly-tipped.
Our team will transform a piece using many skills, including sanding, varnishing, deconstructing, stripping back, distressing … our team is nothing if not thorough!

For those who have a beloved furniture item that maybe needs a repair or some TLC
